Laura Prill is a published illustrator and award winning fine artist. Her paintings, collages and drawings are in many private and public collections. She also worked for many years in the licensed greeting card world as an artist, designer and copywriter.
Her signature style is detailed, revealing the unique qualities of each subject in realistic watercolors, pencil, pen and ink drawings, pastels and digital oil paintings. Detail is also important in her mixed media collages, embedding names and words into the paper layers and creating beautiful textures to express a sense of wonder and mystery and draw the viewer closer.
Laura is currently creating portraits using traditional and digital painting and drawing media. She also is continuing work on several bodies of work that can be found on this site’s gallery pages. Among these are the ”Book of Life ” collages, “Sonnet” collages, and an ongoing pursuit of Clouds!
Laura has also released two original piano solo CD’s, Water Song & Colors Dance.
She and husband Brad co-founded Heartworks, Inc. and Melting Stone Music.
Laura was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City where dual interests in art and music began. She studied classical piano for 12 years. She graduated with a B.A. in History with a second field in Studio Art from the University at Albany, NY.
She resides in Lafayette, Colorado where breath-taking cloud formations are an almost daily occurrence.
